Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup cold unsalted Terp Butter, cubed
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/2 cup milk
4 cups peeled and diced apples (about 4-5 medium apples)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup brown sugar
Preparation
Preheat and Prepare:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.
Make the Dough (5-7 minutes):
Mix flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in egg and milk until just combined. The dough will be sticky.
Prepare the Apples (5 minutes):
Toss diced apples with cinnamon, thyme, and honey.
Assemble (5 minutes):
Press half of the dough into the baking dish.
Spread apple mixture over the crust.
Crumble remaining dough over the apples, and sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake (35-40 minutes):
Bake in the oven until the top is golden brown and apples are tender.
Cool and Serve:
Allow to cool in the pan before cutting into squares. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
